Best of Breed | Top 100 Tools for Learning 2014
Must disagree with Twitter being number one. As Twitter now filters student posts it has become useless in the classroom, as student posts no longer can relied on to appear in a hash tag stream. Simply the students have stopped using it.

Apple iOS8 police-proof? but don't forget your pwd #vmvwiki
In an effort to protect the private communications of iPhone and iPad users, Apple said on Wednesday its latest mobile operating system, the iOS8, has built-in encryption features that does not allow anybody – even police with search warrants – from accessing data stored on handheld devices.
However, the downside is that according to Apple officials, users who forget their pass codes with the new iOS 8 operating system will not be able to recover them by contacting the company

Yahoo threatened with $ trillion fine over user data access #vmvwiki
I like that the cost of the Star Wars Death Star is shown on the graph.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11326405
News coverage of the case, for which documents were unsealed last week, reported the proposed fines as $250,000 a day. But there was also a clause that called for a doubling of the amount each week if Yahoo refused to comply. It was more than enough to bankrupt the company after just a few months.
At the six-month mark, the doubling fine would have equaled $117 trillion. Depending on the calculation you use, the fine would have exceeded the total dollar value of the entire Earth (including economic assets and the physical value of the planet itself) in either the eighth or ninth month.

https://www.ssllabs.com/
SSL Labs is a collection of documents, tools and thoughts related to SSL. It's an attempt to better understand how SSL is deployed, and an attempt to make it better. I hope that, in time, SSL Labs will grow into a forum where SSL will be discussed and improved.
SSL Labs is a non-commercial research effort.
